Stained glass Sgraffito workshop 9th Sept

Enjoy an introduction to stained glass painting and discover the art of Sgraffito on Glass in this workshop, expertly guided by glass artist and teacher Dawn Beedle.

In this creative activity, you will learn how to use the sgraffito technique, which means 'scratched away' in Italian. It is the 'subtractive' art of engraving a design into a thin top layer of black paint to reveal the underlying base colour of the glass. This process creates a stunning pattern in silhouette that looks beautiful when hung in a window.

At the end of the workshop, Dawn will take all the work back to her studio in Bristol to fire the glass, making the paint permanent. If you choose the optional extra for a leaded surround, Dawn will prepare and add it at this stage at an additional cost of £10 on the day of the workshop. All finished pieces will need to be collected from Staple Hill, BS16.
